Airport Details for
Clark DMIA / Angeles City
Clark Airport / Angeles City
Clark International Airport (also known as "DMIA" for Diosdado Macapagal International Airport or Angeles City Airport) was once the largest U.S. Air Force base in Asia. That was until nearby Mount Pinatubo volcano covered Clark Field in ash to a depth of many metres and the Philippine Government felt the need for sovereignty over the ash fall and what lay beneath.
Clark Airport / Angeles City is the nearest airport to Subic Bay
, Barrio Barretto
and 100 Islands
Clark Field has grown as a civil airport serving Clark and the neighboring Angeles City, and now offers golfing
holidays, casino holidays or just 'explore the Philippines' holidays. In the vicinity of Clark Field and Angeles City can be found some of the most interesting monuments to the savagery of World War II, for example, through Clark Field runs the railroad where the few surviving prisoners-of-war from the Battle for Bataan and the Hellships of Subic Bay were hauled North for export to Japan as factory fodder, and the first Kamikaze took off from an aerodrome near Clark Field to die as heroes somewhere in the Philippine Sea. Clark is also the nearest airport to the paragliding and hang gliding
venue of San Isidro, Pangasinan, some two hours distant.
Fly to Clark international airport for holidays in the heartland of central Luzon and, when you are not playing golf or visiting the casino, the many varied legacies of the former U.S. Air Force and colonial influence await you on both Clark Field and in the fields and avenues of Angeles City.
