Puerto Galera Weather InformationPuerto Galera weather is influenced to the greatest extent by the two dominant weather patterns that prevail over much of the northern Philippines, depending upon the season: the northeast monsoon, "amihan", November to April; and, the southwest monsoon, "habagat", from May to October. The northeast monsoon features drier and slightly cooler weather; the southwest monsoon is generally warmer and wetter, especially in the afternoons. There is little temperature variation during the seasons in Puerto Galera, with average highs and lows of around 31C (88F) and 21C (70F) respectively; sea surface temperature is in the range of 27C (81F) to 22C (72F).
The mountainous interior of Mindoro Island encourages more frequent cloud formation above Puerto Galera town throughout the year, resulting in slightly higher rainfall and lower temperatures. The beaches and bays East of the Puerto Galera town, through Minolo, White Beach and Talipanan, also fall under the influence of the mountain induced cloud formation during the northeast monsoon season and less sunblock is required at these locations. By contrast the beaches of Big and Small La Laguna, Sabang and Sinandigan are usually especially sunny during the northeast monsoon.
If you want to enjoy the maximum sunshine then choose the peninsular and western beaches of Puerto Galera during the northeast monsoon: perfect for sun worshipers, swimming, scuba diving, sailing and kayaking. If you are only scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing or playing golf then all of the beaches and bays are a good choice, all of the year round.
