Taal Lake, Talisay, Weather Information
Taal Lake weather in the vicinity of Talisay is heavily influenced by: the northeast monsoon, "amihan", November to April; and, the southwest monsoon, "habagat", from May to October. However, Tagaytay Ridge - the remains of the old volcano - creates its own micro-climate. The northeast monsoon weather brings drier and slightly cooler weather with long periods of sunshine and near cloudless skies; the southwest monsoon weather is generally warmer and much wetter. No matter the season and despite the large are of the lake, Taal Lake rarely experiences waves large than about 0.5 metres in height. There is a slight temperature variation during the seasons in Taal Lake, with highest highs of around 31C (88F) in April and the lowest lows around 20C (68F) in November; lake surface temperature is warm compared to non-volcanic lakes in the Philippines and ranges from 29C (84F) to 24C (75F).
The close proximity to Tagaytay Ridge means that winds tend to funnel and follow the curve of the ridge creating areas of still water, good for wakeboarding and water skiing, and areas of stiff breezes, good for sailing, windsurfing and kiteboarding. The towering Tagaytay Ridge also tends to keep the air a few degrees cooler here than in other parts of Batangas.
If you want to enjoy sports that require wind (e.g. sailing, windsurfing and kiteboarding) then anytime of year is good in Taal Lake. Provided you choose the location correctly, wakeboarding and water skiing can be enjoyed on Taal Lake year-round also.
