We have heard the same rumour for a few years now; I met a guy in Subic Bay eighteen months ago who was asking me serious questions about viable seaplane routes for scheduled operations (Subic Bay - Puerto Galera - Boracay was one he thought was a winner for a seaplane) but I heard nothing more about it. It certainly makes sense to me - the non-airline executive - to have more seaplanes in the country (in addition to our current one, 4-seat Cessna) and to have them operating on predictable routes, but maybe it does not make commercial sense . . . with 7107 islands and 90 million people plus 3-4 million tourists it has surely got to make some sense.
A very close acquaintance of mine says he has been provided with some current, privileged information that he says may provide an answer to your question, within a very short period of time. He would not be drawn on any details but asked me to ask him the same question again in a couple of months, when he felt he may be able to offer more.
So, is there a new airline in the Philippines, proposing to offer scheduled seaplane services on routes to the islands that nobody can get to right now? Can someone out there give us some facts?
