Which airlines fly to Baguio City? This was the question asked of me by a new arrival in the Philippines, met while waiting in a taxi rank in Makati City. I knew I have read somewhere that flights to Baguio City had resumed again recently but I could not remember which airline(s).

I searched the Internet and found references to Asian Spirit actually flying there but since the name change to Zest Airways ( or Zest Air ) the route map on the Zest Air website doesn't even mention Baguio City anymore. Last evening, chatting at the bar in Nomad Sports Club, I learned that " PAL Express definitely fly to Baguio City ", so I looked at their website but there is no information there about when if even if they fly to Baguio.

An exhaustive search of the Internet revealed that most international travel booking services believe that Baguio City is right next door to Manila international airport NAIA, " from where you can take an air conditioned bus " (what they don't tell you (or they don't know) is that the air conditioned bus journey could be six to eight hours long), and even Cebu Pacific recommend Manila international airport as the nearest airport to Baguio City.

Can anyone please answer the question: which airlines fly to Baguio City?

Many people want to know

Juliet

Juliet,

The correct answer to the question - Which Airlines Fly To Baguio City? - is: there are no airlines providing a scheduled service to Baguio City at the present time.

The main challenge for airlines flying to Baguio City is that the airport sits high in the mountains and is subjected to frequent and sometimes unpredictable cloud cover. Baguio airport does not have landing aids for poor visibility landings and is therefore a visual flight rules ( VFR ) airport only.

Asian Spirit (the previous incarnation of today's Zest Air) used to fly to Baguio when weather permitted but the service stopped when Zest Air took over the reins in 2008. I have also heard the rumour about PAL Express flying to Baguio but I can assure you that, as at this morning, PAL Express themselves have no knowledge of their airplanes flying any route to Baguio City.

If you are interested to fly to Baguio City, rather than take the six to eight hour air conditioned bus journey, then there are a number of charter flights companies, based in Manila, Clark Field and Subic Bay, offering a variety of aircraft capacities, that will fly you to Baguio, weather permitting.

We will try to discover which ones like Baguio City and update this thread accordingly.

If anyone out there knows know specifically which companies and where to charter a flight to Baguio City, please post here and pass on the information to Juliet.

A

Juliet et al,

You still can't choose a scheduled flight to Baguio City but to keep up to date on where you can fly we have just launched our " How To Fly To " application, which will allow you to instantly find out which airlines fly to which airports.

http://www.mycam-asia.tv/philippines/how-to-fly-to.php

The application is limited to domestic airlines in the Philippines at the moment but will be Asia-wide soon.

All you have to do is to choose a FROM and a TO airport and the computer will show you direct routes if available, connecting flights and inter-connecting flights using different airlines . . . click ont he airline logo to connect directly to their website for booking.

This is another free service of MyCam Asia, to assist the first time traveller to get the information they need as fast as possible. Enjoy the experience.

Wow !!!! that is really cool - all the airlines in the Philippines, all the airline routes and direct links to all the airlines' web sites (even the website for the new Zest Air, who have forgotten to forward their web domain from the former Asian Spirit, silly people  ).

This is going to save people millions of hours of waiting, on-hold, every week. The telephone companies may not love it but we do :D
